Description: The banyan tree happens to be one my favorite trees in the world. Fortunately, for me, I grew up in areas with an abundance of these beauiful and majestic trees.
The Banyan is a tropical fig tree from India. As reported, the first banyan tree in the U.S. was planted in 1925 by Thomas Alva Edison in Fort Myers, Florida. The tree is now as common as palm trees in areas all over Florida -- Especially the scenic areas of Coconut Grove and Coral Gables, FL.
