Throughout human civilization, the Sun has been the inspiration of countless myths, worship and deities. Being the most prevalent celestial body from our Earth bound prespective (other than the moon), it is no surpise that we are naturally drawn to the life giving beauty of our closest star.
"Metropoli del Sol" was inspired by my love of Science Fiction and representative linear art. This is the Sun's Metropolis -- A dimensional city with blazing copper roof-tops that are juxtaposed by the cool and soft tones of aluminum. The power of the Sun was literally used to create the captivating patterns on the copper elements.
All elements on a re-purposed hollow-core frame. Artwork is anchored in back and ready to hang.
Elements Used: Aluminum, torch fired & Sun exposed copper, lightweight pvc and repurposed hollow core frame. Each element was cut, metal was sheared and etched (both mechanical and hand techniques were used) and copper elements individually torched and baked in the sun for the added surreal effect.
Size & Weight: 29½”x29½”x3" - Appx. 23 pounds
